A place for what matters most

We’re a family of five who call the Shenandoah Valley home, and we created The Onyx at Luray around many of the things our own family loves most: being together, spending time outdoors, and slowing down enough to enjoy the people around us.

Some of our favorite family memories are made hiking in the mountains, spending days along the Shenandoah River, exploring the Valley, or simply sitting outside together. Living here has given us a real appreciation for this part of Virginia, and we wanted to create a place where other families could experience it too.

As parents, we also know how quickly life can become filled with work, schedules, activities, screens, and distractions. The Onyx was created as an opportunity to step away from some of that: to swim together, gather around the fire, share a meal, explore the outdoors, laugh, rest, and reconnect.

Our Christian faith is at the center of our family and the heart behind our hospitality. We believe The Onyx is something God has entrusted to us, and we want to steward it well by using it to serve and bless the families and friends who come through its doors.

Whether you’re here for a family vacation, an adventure in Shenandoah National Park, a weekend on the river, a celebration, or simply some much-needed time away, we hope you’ll make memories here that last long after your trip ends.
